SHILLONG, JAN 8: On 7th January 2025, multiple smuggling attempts along Indo-Bangladesh were successfully foiled by vigilant troops of Border Security Force Meghalaya Frontier.
Acting on specific intelligence input, a series of operations were conducted by BSF personnel all along the international border of Meghalaya in areas of Village Shella, Mullpara and Omtham under East Khasi Hills District. During these operations, a huge consignment of garlic, blankets, sugar, energy drinks, tea, fruits, cattle and Mahindra pickup vehicle worth over ₹31.27 lakh, was intercepted and seized. The items were intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.
The seized contraband items have been handed over to the respective Customs offices for further investigation and legal proceedings. These operation highlights the BSF’s commitment to effectively safeguarding the border and tackling smuggling activities.
