Shillong, Aug 28: The BSF’s inter-command women championship 2024 concluded on Wednesday here in which 70 women athletes from Eastern Command and 50 from Western Command participated.
The sports meet was held at the BSF’s Meghalaya frontier headquarters in which participants took part in events such as wrestling, boxing, judo, arm wrestling, weight lifting and powerlifting competition.
Chief Guest and Power Minister, Abu Taher Mondal in his address said sports plays a significant role in building a robust and healthy society.
He added, such sporting events not only showcase physical prowess but also contribute significantly to the mental and emotional well-being of the participants.
Lauding the role of the BSF in safeguarding the borders, Mondal said the border troopers also play a dual role in instilling a culture of sports among its troops.
Mondal felicitated the winners in different categories. It was followed by a cultural programme presented by students of BSF school in the presence of Inspector General, BSF’s Meghalaya Frontier, Harbax Singh Dhillon and others.
