Cabinet appoints full time secretary for MSCTE

Shillong, Aug 25: With the State set to get 4 more Polytechnics in addition to the existing three, Meghalaya Government on Friday approved the appointment of a full time Secretary for the Meghalaya State Council of Technical Education (MSCTE), Shillong.

The approval was given at the cabinet meeting on Friday at the main secretariat, which also took important decisions and approved appointments in the education sector of the State.

A press statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said there was a need for a full time Secretary since 4 more polytechnics are in the pipeline in addition to the existing ones at Shillong, Tura and Jowai.

The cabinet also decided that the current Additional Director of DHTE, A. Ali, who will be retiring shortly, will be the first full time Secretary of the MSCTE for a period of 24 months.

The government also approved the appointment of C P Marak, IFS (Retd.), as an Executive Chairman for MBOSE, Tura, for a period of 12 months.

It further approved the re-employment of Ripnar Lyngdoh, IAS (Retd), as the State Information Commissioner of Meghalaya State Information Commission.

In addition, the government approved the Cabinet memorandum in the form of a Bill to change the Captain Williamson Sangma Technical University to the Captain Williamson Sangma State University.
