CAU hosts AGRIVISION: A students’ conclave at Umiam

Shillong, May 17: The College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Umiam, Meghalaya, on friday, hosted the inaugural program of AGRIVISION: 1st Zonal Convention North-East Bharat. The event was organized in collaboration with Vidyathi Nidhi, CAU-Imphal, ICAR-NEH, AAU, and Vidya Nidhi.

The event had a participation of over 600 attendees.

Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor of CAU-Imphal, presided over the opening session, with Dr. S.K. Singh, DDG-Horticulture, ICAR, New Delhi, as the chief guest, Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, VC of AAU, Jorhat, Assam, Shri. Govind Nayak, National Joint Secretary of ABVP, and Mr. Subham Singh Patel, National Convener of AGRIVISION, were also present.

Dr. S. K. Singh commended the agrivision team for their commendable efforts and highlighted the vast potential of diverse agro products. He encouraged students to not only seek jobs but also to become job providers. Dr. Anupam Mishra, VC of CAU, emphasized the need to create demand for specialized products and revisit traditional wisdom to address challenges in the current agricultural and allied sectors.

Govind Nayak, the Special Guest of the conclave, stressed upon the role of Akila Bharathi Vidyarthi Parishath in developing responsible Indian citizens, stating that “Students are the citizens of today, not tomorrow.” He shared various national-level activities undertaken by ABVP.
