New Delhi, June 7: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has expressed his “deep appreciation and gratitude” to the election machinery across the country for their exemplary performance and leadership in conducting the 2024 General Election to the Lok Sabha. In letters addressed to District Magistrates, Returning Officers, District Election Officers, Commissioners of Police, and Senior Superintendents of Police, Kumar acknowledged their dedication in executing the world’s largest democratic exercise with precision and efficiency.
Highlighting the intricate and comprehensive nature of the electoral process, Kumar noted, “The design of the Indian election moves all relevant statutory and legal actions to be performed entirely by the teams at the district levels.” He praised the officers for managing the elections “with promptitude and accuracy” despite the evolving challenges and strict timelines.
Kumar emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order during the elections, crediting the security forces for their meticulous planning and timely implementation, which ensured a “free, fair, peaceful, and transparent election.” He commended the officials for their role in upholding the Commission’s vision and stated, “You have not only kept our faith but have immensely enhanced the institutional prestige.”
In both letters, Kumar urged the officials to document their challenges, responses, and success stories, and to volunteer for training and capacity-building programs. This documentation and sharing of experiences, he suggested, would be valuable for national and international training programs.
Expressing his profound respect, Kumar requested that his “sincere appreciation and thanks” be conveyed to the entire election and police machinery. He concluded with a call for continued commitment to excellence in future electoral processes.
