Central Forces start arriving in poll bound Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya

Guwahati, Jan 11: The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have started arriving in the three poll bound northeastern states for the smooth conduct of the assembly polls. Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya will be the first states in the country to go to polls this year, most likely in February – March.

Meghalaya has sought 119 companies of CAPF for the assembly polls. Already, 30 companies of central forces have arrived in the state to assist in smooth conduct of the polls.

Similarly, a large number of CAPF have arrived in Nagaland. The central forces have already taken charge and deployed in the sensitive areas of the state.

In Agartala, Tripura Chief Electoral Officer Gitte Kirankumar Dinkarrao said that 50 companies of CAPF have already arrived in Tripura and another 50 companies are about to reach the state.

The Central forces will be engaged in area domination, other pre-election duties and maintaining law and order.

Mentionably, during every election, central forces are deployed for the smooth conduct of the polls by maintaining law and order.

Also, an Election Commission team headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar, started its four-day visit to the three northeastern states on Wednesday.
