Centre releases ₹43.73 cr for implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission

Shillong, Dec 30: The Centre has released A Grant-in-aid of ₹43,73.04 Lakh (Rupees Forty-Three Crore Seventy Three Lakh Four Thousand only) for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in the state.

Informing about this, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma wrote on his social media handle, “A Grant-in-aid of ₹43,73.04 Lakh (Rupees Forty-Three Crore Seventy Three Lakh Four Thousand only) has been released for the implementation of #JalJeevanMission in #Meghalaya as one of the installments for 2020-21.”

Thanking the Prime Minister and the Minister concern, CM Conrad wrote, “Thank PM Narendra Modi ji and Union Minister of Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, RD & GR Gajendra Singh Shekhawat ji for bringing tap water connection to every rural household in the State.”

Jal Jeevan Mission is a project funded by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, which envisages providing safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India.

The programme will also implement source sustainability measures as mandatory elements, such as recharge and reuse through greywater management, water conservation, rainwater harvesting.

Meghalaya has set the target of December 2022 for Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) to every rural household in the State.
