Shillong, Oct 6: In a major development, the Government of India has sanctioned the creation of 266 new Anganwadi centres and upgradation of 1266 Anganwadi mini centres to main centres in Meghalaya.
Informing this, social welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Friday said that work will start post monsoon and the funding pattern will be 90/10 between the centre and the State. He also informed that each of the upgraded centres will now have two workers and helpers and there will be increase in honorarium from Rs 3,500 to 4,500 per month for the workers.
The Minister also informed that Rs 826.38 lakhs is the total fund requirement and of that Rs. 743.74 lakhs is the Central share.
Talking about the newly sanctioned 266 new Anganwadi centres, he said that these will involved appointment of honorary workers 266 Anganwadi workers 266 helpers.
