Tura, Feb. 24: The continuing GHADC situation is going from bad to worse with some of the opponents angered by the lack of reaction from the ruling NPP alliance to drop Rakesh A Sangma as CEM of GHADC have begun using threats of violent action.

On Wednesday a facebook social media news outlet posted a statement by one individual under the name of Rakga Marak who claimed to be the president of a new militant outfit called United A’chik National Laberation Army Force.

The said individual issued an open threat of armed attack on none other than Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and GHADC CEM Rakesh A Sangma if they both fail to listen to the demand of the Garo community who are demanding the removal of the CEM.

“I am asking CM Conrad K Sangma that he must accept the demand of the majority Garo people which wants the removal of Rakesh A Sangma. If he fails to listen to the people’s voice he will face the bullets of an AK rifle,” dared the individual.

He also warned CEM Rakesh Sangma saying, “If you refuse to resign then you will not be allowed to live in peace in Garo Hills.”

Garo Hills police inform that there is no such group called UANLAF ever heard of in the Garo Hills region and suspect that it is the handiwork of some persons who want to create fear and threat to the ongoing protests in the GHADC.

Meghalaya police have, in the meantime, taken serious note of the threat and launched an investigation besides activating its cyber cell.
