Tura, Jan 12:Â Chief Minister Conrad Sangma conducted a thorough inspection of the PA Sangma Stadium on Friday ahead of the president’s arrival in Tura.
PA Sangma Stadium is set to be the venue for the inaugural ceremony of the 5th Meghalaya Games on January 15. CM’s pre-event inspection was conducted to ensure that all arrangements and facilities are in place for the grand occasion, highlighting the importance of the upcoming sporting event in the region.
CM Conrad was accompanied by Speaker Thomas Sangma and Sport Minister Shakliar Warjri, along with officials from the Sports Department, District Administration, and MSOA.
After Pratibha Singh Patil visited Tura in 2008, Draupadi Murmu will become the second President to visit Tura to grace the occasion as the chief guest.
Her presence will also be significant, as she holds the distinction of being the first tribal president of India. Moreover, her visit to Tura will also be historic as she will become the first president to stay overnight in Tura.
On the sixteenth, President Draupadi Murmu will depart for Shillong, where she is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several projects. She will also be visiting the Mawphlang Sacred Grove.
