CM Himanta Biswa Sarma condemns grenade blast, Ulfa-I denies their role in blast – 2 dead; 2 injured

Guwahati, May 14: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed concern and condemned the grenade explosion at Tingrai Market in Digboi on Friday.

He also asked Director General of Assam Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to nab the miscreants and deal with the situation sternly.

Chief Minister Samra said, “This act of violence is a sign of desperation and cowardice. State government will never tolerate such kind of highhandedness leading to the loss of precious human lives”.

Sarma asked the DGP to direct Range DIG to rush to the site, inquire in to the incident and nab the miscreants involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma condoled the death of the persons succumbed to their injuries perpetrated by grenade blast and wished speedy recovery of those who sustained splinter injuries.

Two person killed and two seriously injured in a grenade blast in the market area of Tingrai under Digboi police station in upper Assam Tinsukia district on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Sanjit Singh(25) and Surajit Talukdar (22) were residents of Tingrai area.

On the other hand, through a statement Ulfa(I) denied their role in the grenade blast.

“Assam police have planted explosives in the houses of the people and putting blame on us. We have got enough evidence against them,” a Ulfa(I) statement read.
