Guwahati, Feb 5: Congress MLA Bharat Narah on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not announce any new projects for Assam. Instead, Narah stated that the Prime Minister merely analysed projects from the interim budget.
During a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati, Narah specifically mentioned the Dolabari to Jamuguri road, noting that the PM launched the road three months after its inauguration.
Narah went on to accuse the Prime Minister of making promises that were left unfulfilled. These promises included a solar rooftop scheme, the contract for which would be given to Adani, and commitments such as recruiting 20 million youth during the 2014 elections, doubling farmers’ income, and granting tribal status to six ethnic groups in Assam within six months.
Narah highlighted these unmet commitments as evidence of the Prime Minister’s failure to deliver on his promises for the region.
He remarked, “The entrance to Kamakhya is the only new announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Regarding fund allocation, Narah said that only Rs. 498 crore out of the Rs. 11,600 crore falls under the projects of the Assam government.
He also questioned why can’t the youth of Assam be stopped from joining militant groups and criticised the absence of any mention of Manipur by the Prime Minister during the public meeting.
