Goswami made these allegations during a public meeting in Shantipur, Boko, in the Kamrup District of Assam. She claimed that BJP leaders and supporters are attempting to secure votes for the BJP by distributing forms of the Orunodoi scheme bearing photos of PM Modi and the BJP logo, particularly among village women.

Goswami urged the public to reject the government, which she says has closed village schools, allowed liquor shops to open in villages, and failed to address issues such as improved health facilities, schools, a shortage of Garo language teachers in schools, and roads. She criticized former BJP MP Queen Oja for leading an elite life in Delhi post-election. She claimed that Bijuli Kalita Medhi, the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate, has not been a voice for the people.

The Congress candidate also participated in a two-day traditional cultural workshop organized by the Garo National Council, Garo Women Council, Garo Youth Council, and other organizations at the Santipur playground. Goswami emphasized that if she wins the election on May 7, she will advocate for the people, forcing the government to listen to the voice of the people, not Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

Goswami questioned the government’s failure to provide land rights, drinking water, improved health systems, and school development. She criticized the government for borrowing thousands of crores of rupees daily and increasing goods prices instead of reducing them. She also accused the BJP of being an anti-Christian party that is trying to close down churches and Christian schools while asserting that the Congress party does not politicize religious institutions.

Goswami expressed concern for the Garo people living in Assam, stating they are fearful and terrified. She assured that the Congress party would continue to advocate for the Garo people even after winning the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Goswami campaigned on Wednesday in nine locations in the Boko and Chaygaon areas of the Kamrup district.

In a strong statement, Goswami said, “We don’t want to live in Modi’s ‘My India’ (Mera Bharat), we want to live in our India.” She alleged that the BJP aims to make employees of Adani and Ambani corporate groups in Modi’s ‘My India’. She urged the people to vote for the Congress party to save the country from Modi’s ‘My India’.

Guwahati Lok Sabha polling will be held on May 7.
