Congress desperate to come to power, feel sad for them: Conrad

Must read

Shillong, Aug 20: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Friday said the opposition Congress is extremely desperate to come back to power by toppling the present government and, thus, making all sorts of comments and using language unexpected of senior leaders from the party.

Talking to reporters during his weekly press meet in Shillong, he said he is sad to see the extreme sense of desperation in the leadership in Congress. He also shared that some Congress MLAs have called him and apologized for the comments and language used by party leadership in recent times. He said the MLAs said they are quite ashamed of the language used by their leadership and their behavior. “That speaks a lot about how things are within the Congress itself,” Sangma remarked.

He said the Congress has approached the coalition partners so many times but every time they have been told that this government will continue.

“Their focus is not about development of the people and the issues of the people. Their focus is more on toppling and more on how they will come back to power.  It’s not really healthy for the system. I think we should focus on the issues, we should have constructive discussion,” Sangma said.
