Conrad Sangma highlighted the importance of a government driven by a clear purpose and real, measurable outcomes at the grassroots level, rather than one solely centered on schemes and programs.
He also highlighted that Meghalaya shares the nation’s goals and aspirations, underscoring the need to establish TB diagnostic and treatment facilities in remote areas due to the challenging terrain and scattered population.
Conrad also informed about a significant delay in the diagnosis of tuberculosis, particularly among economically disadvantaged individuals who often seek medical attention only when their symptoms have worsened.
CM said, “Community engagement, improved nutrition, innovative treatment approaches, technology integration, wellness initiatives, and preventive measures such as disease awareness, early screening, and hygiene maintenance are some strategies that can expedite India’s goal of achieving a TB-free status by 2025.”
CM also disclosed a substantial rise in the state government’s healthcare budget, with a primary emphasis on funding various health missions and improving the quality and accessibility of primary healthcare services through health and wellness centers.
“TB is ongoing, unwavering dedication and collaboration can lead to significant progress in mitigating its impact, ” he added.
CM also talked about how the engagement of women in different self-help groups have economically empowered them which in turn has improved the health.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma also launched the Meghalaya Mobile Portable AI based X-Ray diagnostic facility during the event.
