SHILLONG, MAY 8: Consistency is key to success, says Sohan Bhattacharjee of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong, who topped this year’s HSSLC (Science) examination by securing 483 marks.
Sohan also secured 100 marks in Physics and Mathematics.
“I never expected to top the exams. It’s mixed emotions and right now I am still shocked at how I got that,” he said soon after the results were declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) here on Wednesday.
Sohan said the entire credit of his success goes to his teacher. “She really helped me a lot. Whenever I had doubts even at 10 or 11 o’ clock (at night) I called her and she gave me replies so all credit goes to her. Thank you so much miss for helping me. Not only in physics but in all the departments, all the teachers are really amazing.”
Sharing the mantra of his success, the science topper said consistency and regular study makes it possible for one to get to the top.
“Mainly it takes dedication and discipline. It doesn’t mean if you study for 10 – 15 hours a day you will get here, it’s a misconception. You can study for a few minutes also but the concept of the subject should go into your head and that’s what makes the difference and consistency and regular study makes it possible,” he asserted.
Extending her congratulations to the students for performing well in the board exams, Principal of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School Jona Goswami said, “We are elated and also humbled because all said and done and finally without God’s blessings nothing is possible. Laban Bengalee Boys’ has come a long way. We have been working towards accomplishing the results and it is nothing but teamwork.”
“Good results are not possible for just one person, it’s the entire teaching fraternity of Laban Bengalee Boys and I would give credit to our high school teachers and not just higher secondary who have been constantly monitoring our boys and that’s the reason why monitoring, guiding, mentoring and that is the reason why perhaps we have been able to achieve this but we are humbled because after all this year’s celebration is this year because tomorrow it’s a new day, new challenges,” she added.
