Guwahati, April 27: In a solemn ceremony at Guwahati Airport, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bid a final farewell to Saheed Sub-Inspector Nashiruddin Sarkar, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty in Manipur today.
The event was attended by eminent figures from the Northeast Zone, including Danesh Rana, IPS, IG, NES, Vimal Kumar Bisht, IG, NEZ, and other senior officers from the CRPF and Assam Police. M.S. Manivannan, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Government of Assam, and Akhilesh Kumar Singh, IPS, IGP Assam Police, were also present to pay their respects.
Nashiruddin Sarkar, a dedicated CRPF officer, was deployed with his platoon at the 2nd IRB, Narasena Outpost, Moirang, due to the prevailing security concerns in Manipur. On the night of April 26-27, the platoon post came under heavy fire from unknown militants, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
Sadly, during the incident, Nashiruddin Sarkar and Havildar Arup Saini sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the RIMS Hospital, Imphal. Two other CRPF personnel, Inspector Jadab Das and Constable Aftab Ul-Hussain, were also wounded and are currently hospitalized.
Nashiruddin Sarkar, who joined the CRPF as a Constable in 1991, had served in various security theaters across the country. He was a native of Kokrajhar, Assam, and later relocated to Bonbaria, Barpeta. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
The CRPF and the state authorities paid their heartfelt tributes to the fallen hero, honoring his sacrifice and dedication to the nation.
