CTE Rongkhon celebrates its 31st Foundation Day

Tura, June 22: The College of Teacher Education (CTE), Tura, Rongkhon celebrated their 31st Foundation Day on Friday at their college auditorium in Rongkhon, Tura.

The College of Teacher Education, Rongkhon, Tura was established in the year 1993 and since its inception has been catering to the needs of the different districts of Meghalaya and Garo Hills in particular as well as other states of India.

The College’s motto ‘Education for Excellence’ conveys that the College shall render training to the teachers for excellence who in turn will be enabled to lead the young individuals from darkness to light and from ignorance to knowledge.

Present at the 31st Foundation Day were Jagadish Chelani, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills & Chairman of Advisory Board, CTE as the chief guest; J. D. Sangma, Chairman, Tura Municipal Boards; Rev. Fr. Dr. Pius Varghese, Principal, Don Bosco College of Teacher Education; Dr. Meena A Sangma, Principal, CTE, Rongkhon, Tura along with the staff and students of the institution. Members of the Advisory Board of CTE along with Professors and Principals of various institutions were also invited to grace the program.

Chelani, in his address, said the CTE Rongkhon and CTE Don Bosco are pivotal institutions that set the stage for teachers to come and teach the children and improve their learning outcomes, and the amount of the information and training that they receive shall eventually condense down to the students, which will be the model for Meghalaya.

He also appreciated all the stakeholders, teachers, faculties and all the other staff of CTE Rongkhon who have participated in the entire journey of 31 years and made the efforts of making the institution to come up to that pivotal importance possible.

He also added that the very aspect of education is to expand the scope of imagination for the children, and encourage them to explore out the possibilities, hoping that teachers in training shall adhere to it.

College of Teacher Education, Tura, Rongkhon gives opportunity and scope to the aspiring individuals who wish to be efficient and competent teachers in different categories of the stages of education especially the secondary stage to obtain B.Ed Degree, creating a possibility of getting jobs both within and outside the State which in turn solves the problem of untrained teachers as well as unemployment of educated youths.
