Chennai, Dec 4: In the last few days, Chennai has witnessed heavy rainfall and could witness further spells of showers as Cyclone Michaung continues to impact and disrupt normal lives on the southern coast prompting families to seek safety amidst flooded roads and infrastructure challenges.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in other places of Tamil Nadu, including Chengalpet, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur.
Amidst all these, a user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a video of a crocodile which was spotted on a road in the city during the night.
According to reports, the reptile was found crawling in the Perungalathur area of the city which later disappeared in the bushes.
After the video has gone viral on social media,Tamil Nadu additional chief secretary for environment climate change & forests Supriya Sahu has urged the people of the area to not go near reptiles when they see them, adding that they were shy creatures who avoid human contact.
Many are tweeting about this video. There are a few mugger crocodiles in several of the water bodies in Chennai. These are shy elusive animals and avoid human contact.
