Shillong, June 28: With the aim of enhancing employability and bridge the skill gap, Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF) has introduced a new course on Domestic Data Entry Operator at its Common Service Lab (CSL) in the remote area of Lumshnong in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.

The inaugural batch of 28 youths, comprising 75% women, will receive free, high-quality training to equip them with vital skills for the growing business ventures in the town. This initiative is part of DBF’s commitment to promote skill development and sustainable livelihoods among rural communities in Meghalaya and the broader North Eastern region.

DBF is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd (DCBL).

Since its establishment in Lumshnong, the CSL has empowered over 200 youths with valuable skills in Digital and Financial Literacy courses, aiming to narrow the digital gap among young people.

The day was also marked by a valedictory session for the 12th batch of the Digital Literacy course, where certificates were distributed to 20 youths.

Dalmia Bharat Foundation focuses on building Sustainable Livelihoods and ensure Rural Development in its programme. These programmes combine in-depth, long-term plans and strategies along with medium- and short-term initiatives and campaigns. Owing to the great differences across locations, DBF has adopted a flexible, multi-intervention approach that allows programmes and people to grow together and sustain each other. The two focus areas have been derived from the felt needs of the community and issues material to the business.
