Tura, June 17: As part of commemorating 50 years of attaining statehood, the Block Administration of Dalu C&RD Block in collaboration with Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society (MSRLS) and Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA), on Thursday organised a Meghalaya Statehood Day as part of the commemoration in the presence of Brening A Sangma, MLA Dalu Constituency.
The program witnessed participation of 500 Self Help Group (SHG) members and Producer Groups from all over Dalu Constituency. Block Development Officer, C&RD Block appreciated the role of SHG movement which acts as a catalyst in changing the scenario in terms of political empowerment, social development and eradication of Social evil.
Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, Brening Sangma emphasised on the importance of education and appreciated the changing education scenario of the constituency through the two students of Woodland Sec. School who brought laurels to the constituency in the recently announced SSLC examination 2022, and felicitated the students during the program.
Along with the felicitation of the two students, 16 SHG members were also felicitated. Distribution of cheques or the 30 Producer Groups worth 21,80,000 promoted under Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA) and 17 Self Help Groups promoted under Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Agency (MSRLS) amounting Rs 26,00,000 were also handed during the event.
