Tura, Dec 6: A two-day Christmas Pop-Up Sale for promotion of Products of Trainees was organized by the District Commerce and Industries Centre (DCIC), West Garo Hills, Tura at their office premises on Thursday.
Starting on December 5, the event was inaugurated by Rikse R Marak, Chief Executive Officer of Tura Municipal Board.
The products featured for sale are local products made by trainers at various Departmental Training centres and Training Schemes, all falling under the purview of the DCIC, Tura.
The event showcased the creativity and expertise of individuals under the Master Craftsman Schemes and Rural Artisan Program.
Diverse offerings were on display, originating from training centers such as the Cane & Bamboo Training Centre, Carpentry Training Centre, Steel Fabrication, Knitting, Tailoring & Embroidery Centre.
The products were sold at very reasonable prices. DFR Marak, General Manager, DCIC, Tura along with Officers and Staff of DCIC were present at the event and people in and around the town visited the stalls and bought the items put up for sale.
Speaking to Hub News, Biondie Shira, Functional Manager, DCIC said the pop sale is not only to generate revenue but also make the artisans familiar with the know-how on market sense.
