Demand for ILP in Meghalaya: JSU checks documents of non-tribals in Jaintia Hills

Jowai, Aug 11: The Jaiñtia Students Union (JSU) continued with its agitation on Wednesday due to failure of the Central Government to implement ILP in the state.

The agitation which included checking of documents of Non-Tribals who are working in Jaiñtia Hills Area also witnessed shutting down of certain commercial establishments who didn’t posses documents like the Trading Licence issued by the JHADC.

The checking of documents is being done by the Union all over Jaiñtia Hills and especially the District Headquarters of Jowai and Khliehriat and other places.

The Union stated that it will continue with checking of documents and those found with no proper documentation will either be asked to return to their village or to apply for documents whereas those shops not possessing documents will be asked to close down.

The leaders of the Union stated that they will continue with this form of agitation till the ILP is implemented in the state of Meghalaya.
