Green immersion in Jowai

The conclusion of the Durga Puja didn’t dampen the spirit of the worshippers who braved heavy downpour dancing and rejoicing all along the stretch of the road from Shiv Mandir at Iawmusiang to Syntu Ksiar, stretch of the Myntu River, in West Jaintia Hills.

The district organised a green immersion. These included idols were made using organic dyes and it was ensured by the puja committees that no non-biodegradable substances get into the water.

Organisers said these protocols were followed as per the direction of the National Green Tribunal and also the district administration for the past five odd years.

Meanwhile, some of the devotees said that rainfall during immersion is a good sign and hopefully there would be peace and happiness all around bestowed by the goddess Durga.
