Guwahati, Feb 15: In a bid to develop the railway infrastructure of Northeast and Assam, Rs 10,369 crore is being allocated in the interim budget 2024-25 for railway infrastructure projects in the region.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), a total of 60 railway stations in the Northeast are being redeveloped with world-class modern amenities and facilities.
Among the selected railway stations, Dhemaji railway station in Assam will receive a significant facelift under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of Rs 6.34 crore. The revamping of this station will provide modern state-of-the-art amenities to the railway users of the nearby areas.
Dhemaji railway station is an important station in Assam that serves Dhemaji town and comes under the Tinsukia Division of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).
Free Wi-Fi, Divyangjan-friendly ramps, and toilet facilities, along with other modern amenities like lifts, escalators, executive lounges, nominated spaces for business meetings, and landscaping, will also be provided. New toilet blocks will be built separately for male and female passengers.
