Dibrugarh, Sept 5: Dibrugarh police have served notice to Sumi Bora and her husband Tarkik Bora to appear before police in connection with online investment fraud.

After the arrest of the alleged mastermind of online investment fraud Bishal Phukan, Sumi Bora and her husband have been absconding.

According to police, Rajib Bora, partner of Bishal Bora and Jinki Milli is also absconding.

Talking to media persons, Dibrugarh Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Sizal Agarwal, said, “We have registered two cases. One Bishal Phukan main accused in first case. A case no 352/24 u/s 316/318 BNS 21/23 sections of planning of unregulated deposit scheme Act. Similar section has been imposed against Ranjit Kakoti and we have arrested him. Ranjit Kakoti has done the scams through Trading FX platform . Bishal Phukan done the scam through Persilia consultancy.”

“In Bishal Phukan case, we have searched his residences and seized documents, foreign currency and luxury items. We have mostly seized his luxury items which he has purchased from investors money. We have also seized many investors agreement from Bishal’s office. We have searched Rajib Bora house, who is the partner’s of Bishal Phukan and recovered documents and mobile phone,” Agarwal said.

The ASP added, “We have served notices to Sumi Bora, Tarkik Bora, Rajib Bora and Jinki Milli in connection with the multi crore investment scam. But they have not appeared before us till date. We have registered the case on September 2, 2024 and during our investigation we have found Rs 60,000 crore investment fraud. The foreign currency which we have seized were from Singapore, Malaysia and UAE.”

“During interrogation, Bishal Phukan told that he has done five foreign trips and in Sumi Bora’s marriage in Rajasthan, Udaipur he has spent Rs 3 crore. Our investigation has been going on,” the ASP said.

Bishal Phukan was produced before the Dibrugarh Court on Wednesday. The Court of CJM (Charge) Anjan Nath has remanded Bishal Phukan to 3 days of police custody.

On Wednesday evening, Bishal Phukan was taken for medical check-up.

Meanwhile, police have also seized a luxury car from Bishal Phukan’s residence.
