Guwahati, Sept 5: The Government of India on Wednesday extended the ceasefire agreement with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland – (K)Niki for a period of one year.
The ceasefire extension document said that the Government of India and National Socialist Council of Nagaland (K)Nikki, Nagaland have mutually decided to extend the ceasefire agreement with effect from September 8, 2024 for a period of one year, i.e. till September 7, 2025, to bring about a lasting peace in Nagaland with the involvement of Naga people.
The ceasefire is subject to adherence to the ceasefire ground rules mutually agreed to and signed by the two sides.
The ceasefire agreement was signed by Abel Zingru Thuer, supervisor, CFSB, NSCN-(K)Niki and Ameka Achumi, secretary, CFSB, NSCN-(K)Niki, whereas for Government of India, the signatory was Piyush Goyal, Additional Secretary to the Government of India, Minister of Home Affairs.
