Imphal, Aug 1: The internally displaced people of Manipur due organised a massive rally in Imphal, demanding resettlement.
Over 60,000 people have been internally displaced in Manipur following the Kuki-Meitei ethnic conflict since May 3, 2023. They have been staying in relief camps across the state and neighbouring states.
The rally comes at a time with the Manipur Legislative Assembly is in session.
While the Internally displaced people rallied in Imphal demanding resettlement, police resorted to tear gas to stop them from carrying out their rally.
The protest, which started from Akampat Relief Camp, was prevented from proceeding further by the security forces as the protesters aimed to march to the Chief Minister’s residence.
