Tura, Mar 8: Don Bosco college celebrated the International Women’s Day today. The event was themed around ,”Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” and the campaign theme for this year was ‘Inspire Inclusion’. The event also marked by musical performances from the students.
Dr. Natasha R Marak, Asst. Professor, College of Community Science addressed the gathering and spoke about her life experiences and academic achievement.
Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, Principal, Don Bosco College,Tura; Barbara S Sangma, Convener ICC (Internal Complaints Committee), Don Bosco College; Rev. Fr. John Paul Turkey, Vice Principal, Don Bosco College,Tura and faculty members of the college, also graced the occasion.
Barbara S Sangma, Convener ICC (Internal Complaints Committee), Don Bosco College spoke about the inclusion of women in all walks of life and that ” If it is to be real progress, the world will have to take into account and include the weak, the marginalized, the forgotten, the women, and the groups that society term as other”.
Whereas Rev. Fr. Bivan Rodriques Mukhim, Principal, Don Bosco College,Tura in his address said that,the achievements of the female students in the recent 5th Meghalaya Games and applauded their outstanding performance. He also stated that the number of female students has surpassed that of male students, with girls constituting 58% of the student body at Don Bosco College, Tura.
