Guwahati, Oct 4 : Assam police draw criticism for registering a case against under bailable sections of the IPC against former Miss India finalist Rajkanya Baruah.
On Friday night, eight PWD workers were injured when Rajkanya Baruah’s speeding vehicle rammed into an Auto van at the Rukmini Nagar area in Guwahati.

PWD workers has been doing a construction work owing to Vice President visit to Guwahati.
Dispur police have seized the Chevrolet car bearing registration no(AS-01 AG-2194). The girl was picked up by police for further investigation.
Rajkanya Baruah, who was allegedly drunk, rammed her vehicle into the Auto van followed by the workers, who were engaged in the construction work on GS Road.
Surprisingly, the young woman, who was driving the car at high speed in a drunken state, was granted bail on the same day.
It was alleged that the accused woman managed to get bail even after committing such a ‘heinous crime’ due to ‘faulty FIR’ and the weak role of the Dispur police.

The police did not file any criminal case against the woman and except one, all the IPC sections slapped against her are bailable.
Police did not register the FIR for driving under the influence of alcohol for causing injury to a person while driving under the influence of alcohol and for the violation of the night curfew, which is in force in Guwahati in view of the Covid-19.
During curfew in the night, how the girl is driving car. The police should stopped her earlier for violating curfew order. This things are common in Guwahati road. People are often seen violating curfew order and roaming. The girl was drunk and this was the prime reason of the accident,” said Vinayak Sharma, a resident of Rukmingaon.
The young woman was partying in a five-star hotel in the Khanapara area in Guwahati.
