Williamnagar, July 30: The office of the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), felicitated 24 TB free villages in East Garo Hills in a function organized at DRDA Hall – I on 30 July where the officers of the Govt. departments Nokmas, Sordars, the presidents and secretaries of Village Health Councils, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, Nikshay Mitras and others participated.
The chief guest of the occasion, Ripamchi N Sangma, Additional Deputy Commissioner and the CEO of Williamnagar Municipal Board, in her speech, sought the cooperation of the people of the region to work harder to make East Garo Hills a “TB Free District and said that with the availability of advanced medical care facilities, TB can easily be cured. She also stressed on the need to continue the awareness programs so that TB can be eradicated by the year 2025.
The District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), Dr. CEN Sangma, while speaking on the occasion, urged the people of the region to work harder to get their villages declared as “TB Free Villages”
On the day, 6 villages from Dambo-Rongjeng C&RD Block, 9 villages from Samanda C&RD Block and 9 villages from Songsak C&RD Block received the certificates for being TB free villages in East Garo Hills.
