Shillong, Mar 10: The counting of votes for the Assembly polls held for five States got underway on Thursday morning.
The 7-phase elections to the five states has started on February 10, 2022 and concluded on March 7, 2022. The five states are — Punjab, Uttar Pradesh (UP), Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
Elections in UP were held in 7 phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3 and March 7. Manipur held elections in two phases on February 28 and March 5. Elections in Uttarakhand and Goa were held on February 14 while Punjab went to the polls on February 20.
Thursday’s result will elect MLAs to 690 seats spread across the five states. UP has 403 seats, Punjab – 117, Uttarakhand – 70, Manipur – 60 and Goa – 40 seats.
