Eleven insurgents arrested in Manipur

Imphal, April 20: In a significant crackdown, security forces in Manipur have arrested eleven insurgents over the past 24 hours, recovering arms, ammunition, cash, and incriminating documents.

The arrests were made across three districts — Imphal East (9), Bishnupur (1), and Kakching (1). The detainees are members of various outlawed outfits, including the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), United National Liberation Front (UNLF), People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), and Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL).

Manipur Police said the arrested individuals were involved in crimes such as extortion from government officials, contractors, traders, and local residents.

In a parallel development, top military leadership reviewed the law and order situation in the state. General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Eastern Command, Lt. Gen. Ram Chander Tiwari, GOC Spear Corps Lt. Gen. Abhijit S. Pendharkar, and IG Assam Rifles (South) Maj. Gen. Ravroop Singh met with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan to discuss the evolving security scenario.
