Must read

Shillong, Nov 29: Former GHADC chief Dipul M Marak on Monday formally joined the BJP. He was earlier with NPP.

Former two-time MDC of NPP, Sukharam K Sangma, and UDP’s MDC candidate Elbert Marak, senior advocate VGK Kynta, R Jana Nongbet and others were also welcomed to the BJP by the state president Ernest Mawrie in the presence of national secretary Rituraj Sinha, Meghalaya In-charge Chuba Ao, former cabinet minister AL Hek and party leaders and functionaries.

In his speech, Dipul Marak said the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo people of Meghalaya should know that they have joined the BJP in order to make the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is ‘development for everyone’, come true in the state.

“Things have changed every day but even after attaining 50 years of statehood the state still lacks in many aspects which is why in order to take the state forward, we need to look and support BJP as it is the only party that works for the betterment of the people,” he stated.

Speaking during the meeting, senior advocate VGK Kynta said that his decision to join the BJP is to get a platform to raise his voice on issues pertaining to the interest of the people and the state of Meghalaya as a whole.

Kynta said people will be questioning his move to join the BJP but he is of the opinion that BJP is the biggest platform to raise his voices as he is impressed by the activities of the party especially with the activities that benefit the people especially the poor and downtrodden.

“It has been my motto, my wish that if you want to swim, swim in a big ocean not in small muddy ponds as I consider all regional parties or MDA as parties swimming in muddy ponds,” he said.

Kynta said that till today the state depends on the central government which is run by the BJP hence being a vocal person, it will be more appropriate to use the BJP as the platform to raise his voice against corruption and black money for the interest of the state.

He added that it is a fact that Khasi do not file income tax returns and for that reason the state has got so many millionaires whose wealth is unaccounted for. “I feel that in order to be responsible citizens it is high time that we file income tax returns to be able to contribute to the nation” he added.
