Shillong, April 14: Former Sohiong MLA Nit Shabong passed away on Friday at the age of 84 at his residence in Sohiong.

Late Shabong won the Sohiong Assembly Election in 1983 from the Congress Party with 3562 votes. Shabong then lost the 1988 election to HSPDP candidate HDR Lyngdoh.

Late Shabong is the father of the Congress candidate, S Osborne Kharjana, who will be contesting for the upcoming Sohiong polls scheduled on May 10.
