Guwahati, Feb 26: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today declared Advantage Assam 2.0 a defining moment in the state’s economic transformation, marking the beginning of a new era of progress and self-reliance.
The Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 concluded with investment commitments in Assam totaling ₹491,500 crore.
“We have received lots of investment proposals in AdvantageAssam2.0. Our officials scrutinised them and only went ahead with those that can be actioned in the next 3-4 years,” he said.
He said the summit was a historic occasion with historic investment commitments laying the course of future development of the state.
Acknowledging the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Dr. Sarma reiterated Assam’s commitment to becoming a key driver of India’s growth story. He highlighted the seven pillars that define Assam’s resurgence: Democracy, Demography, Demand, Diversity, Dependability, Digitalization, and Decisive Leadership.
“Assam is entering a new era of development—this is our time,” he proclaimed, underscoring the state’s ambition to move beyond dependency and emerge as a contributory force in the nation’s progress.
At the heart of this transformation lies Assam’s thriving self-help group (SHG) ecosystem. “With a robust SHG network, Assam has the potential to surpass even the Amul success story,” Dr. Sarma asserted.
During the two-day summit, the Chief Minister unveiled Assam’s strategic roadmap for economic growth, emphasizing sustainable investments, industrial expansion, and a business-friendly ecosystem. He detailed how the state is rapidly evolving into a regional economic powerhouse, backed by bold initiatives that are strengthening trade, infrastructure, and industrialization.
Among the landmark projects under Advantage Assam 2.0 are: India’s first Semiconductor OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) unit, India’s first Bio-Refinery unit, sustained economic growth exceeding 12% and a significant decline in violence, creating a peaceful, investment-ready environment.
Beyond industry and infrastructure, Dr. Sarma highlighted Assam’s growing cultural prominence. He set an ambitious vision of making Guwahati and Dibrugarh the concert capitals of India, reinforcing the state’s position as a hub for both economic dynamism and artistic expression.
Anupam Deka, Director of SRD Group, shared his happiness over the smooth conduct of this summit. “Since the announcement of the Tata Semiconductor Unit in Jagiroad, massive investments have started coming to the state,, He added.
With Advantage Assam 2.0, it looks like the state is not just embracing change—it is leading it, charting a course toward unprecedented growth, innovation, and cultural resurgence.
