New Delhi, May 18: Following the mob violence against international students in Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek. The Indian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan has advised all Indian students to stay indoors and to get intouch with the Indian Embassy.
This advisory was issued following an unprecedented mob violence yesterday evening against international students in the capital city of Bishkek.
India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar on twitter stated on X (former Twitter) “Monitoring the welfare of Indian students in Bishkek. Situation is reportedly calm now. Strongly advise students to stay in regular touch with the Embassy,”.
The Indian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan urged the students to stay calm and stay in touch with the Embassy by contacting 24×7 on its Helpline Number 0555710041.
“We are in touch with our students. The situation is presently calm but students are advised to stay indoors for the moment and get in touch with the Embassy in case of any issue. Our 24×7 contact number is 0555710041,” stated the Indian Embassy on X.
It is speculated that the matter may have been caused following a video of a fight between Kyrgyzstan students and students from Egypt on May 13 which went viral on social media.
