Shillong, Jan 24: In a tragic road accident that occurred at around 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, the driver of a truck lost his life after his truck lost control and fell into a gorge near the Hyundai Showroom at Madanryting.
The truck, bearing registration number TN 52 F 5863, was reportedly transporting mirrors, and upon reaching Madanryting, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid off the road and fall into a gorge, ultimately crashing into two houses.
As of now, the identity of the deceased driver remains unknown.
The incident also resulted in injuries to a passerby, who has been hospitalized for treatment, and the truck helper. The truck itself suffered extensive damage, with the mirrors it was carrying shattering and scattering all over the area.
Local residents of Madanryting have repeatedly urged authorities to construct a protective wall to shield people and prevent such accidents. Unfortunately, their pleas seem to have fallen on deaf ears, as this is not the first incident of its kind in the area.
