Agartala, Jan 5: A terrifying incident unfolded Sunday evening when a fire erupted in a moving bus packed with picnickers along the Agartala-Khowai road near the Jagatpur Chowmhuni area of Sidhai Mohanpur in West Tripura district.
Quick action by firefighters prevented what could have been a catastrophic disaster, as the flames were brought under control. Passengers were evacuated in the nick of time, with two individuals rushed to the hospital after experiencing severe breathing difficulties.
Police have launched an urgent investigation to uncover the cause of the fire. Early suspicions point to a potential short circuit in the bus’s sound system battery connection. However, officials have not ruled out mechanical failure or other possibilities.
The incident has sparked concerns about passenger safety and the maintenance of public transport vehicles. Authorities are expected to issue updates as the investigation progresses.
