First surgery successfully performed at Tura Civil Hospital new Catheterization Lab

Tura, May 22: The first surgery at the Catheterization Lab in Tura Civil Hospital was performed on Wednesday by Dr. Jacob Abraham Ruram and the CATH LAB team.

The patient, a 76-year-old woman from Sellsella, received a heart pacemaker.

Notably, the lab was installed at Tura Civil Hospital in February 22. With its operation, healthcare in Garo Hills, especially for cardiac patients, has significantly improved.

The lab assist Tura Civil Hospital doctors in surgically placing stents for heart attack patients, performing device closure operations on children born with heart defects, and even installing pacemakers.

The Catheterization Lab in Tura is equipped with advanced technology imported from the renowned US company General Electric (GE), was established at a cost of nearly Rs 6 crore.
