Tura, Aug 22: It is football extravaganza for the football enthusiasts in Garo Hills as another tournament has taken off after the conclusion of the highly entertaining Inter-Mahari Football Tournament. The Inter Church Father’s Fellowship Football Tournament 2023, organized by the Akonggre Baptist Church Father’s Fellowship, Tura, has begun at Chandmari Astroturf Football Ground in Tura, West Garo Hills.
The tournament began on August 17, with the finale is scheduled for September 9. A total of 32 teams, from different churches and from different parts of Tura, have registered for the tournament.
On August 21, two matches were played. The first match was between the Darengre church team and the Lower Sunny Hills church team. Darengre was too much of a force for the Lower Sunny Hills and dominated the match throughout the regulation 90-minutes duration. At the end of the play, Darengre church won the match by hammering six goals against the Lower Sunny Hills’ score of nil.
The second match was played between Penny Valley and Edenbari Church. The Penny Valley church squad secured a hard-fought victory, securing a solitary goal against the Edenbari church team, who found themselves unable to breach the opposition’s defenses.
It is to be mentioned here that soon after the Inter Church Father’s Fellowship Football Tournament 2023 concludes on September 9, another major tournament will be waiting in the wings to take off. The 1st edition of ‘Tura Champions Trophy 2023’ is set to kick-off on September 12, 2023 at the GBHSS Football Turf located in Chandmari, Tura. The tournament will showcase the best of football talents from West Garo Hills as 18 top clubs from Tura Football League featuring Super Division and Division-A Clubs will lock horns for the title.
