Chennai, Sep 9: Ford Motor Company on Thursday announced that the company will shut down its vehicle manufacturing plants in India. The company will shut its plants after a quarter century of ‘made-in-India’ models.

The two Indian based Ford manufacturing plants are in Chennai and Sanand.
Ford will only sell imported vehicles with niche products like Mustang and Ranger after incurring operational losses of about 2 billion US Dollar over the last 10 years.
Ford was the company that kick-start the Compact SUV market in the country.
Ford is the third US automobile company to shut down manufacturing in the last four years after GM and Harley Davison in India.
