Tura, February 28: The Forestry division of Tura organised a Workshop and a Seminar on Medicinal plants today at the Conference Hall CF Office, in Dakopgre Tura. The seminar was sponsored by the National Medicinal Plant Board.
The seminar was organised to promote awareness about the healing properties of medicinal plants. The workshop was attended by forest officials, local herbal practitioners, researchers, students, and members of the public.
R. K. Sangma, Conservator of Forests (Wildlife and Territorial) Garo Hills Region and DFO Teritorrial Division, East & North Garo Hills, Williamnagar, A.Ch. Sangma MFS, DFO, Social Forestry Division Tura, highlighted the rich biodiversity of the region, and emphasized on the potential of medicinal plants in healthcare, livelihood generation, and sustainable forest management.

The workshop highlighted the local medicinal plants, their traditional uses, and stressed on the importance of documenting traditional knowledge. An interactive session was also held during the workshop.
