Four AQIS backed terror operatives arrested in Assam; one of them a Madrassa teacher

Guwahati, Oct 17: Assam Police on Monday busted more terror modules backed by Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent or AQIS and arrested four persons including one Madrassa teacher in two separate raids – one in Tamulpur and another in Nalbari district, police sources said.

In the Tamulpur case, Assam Police arrested two Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) operatives, whom the Police claims to be a part of AQIS backed terror modules. One of the arrested persons is a Madrassa teacher.

The arrested persons – Saddek Ali, 38-years, hails from Howli Barpeta and has been teaching at Dongargaon Madrassa. While 23-year-old Jakibul Ali is a small time businessman in Namati of Nalbari district of Assam, police sources added.

Police sources further added that both the arrested terror accused are said to be members of ABT and AQIS in Assam and have been carrying out activities from the Madrassa.

They have been booked under several stringent sections of the IPC as well as under UAPA. They have been booked under 120(B)/121/121(A)/122 IPC, R/W-Sec -10/13 UA(P) Act.

In yet another raid, suspected ABT members 26-years-old Habel Ali and Abu Raihan, who is also 26-years-old, have been arrested by Nalbari police on similar charges.
