Four minor rape case: Rally in Baghmara seek justice for victims

Tura, June 14: Several organisations from South Garo Hills on Friday held a peace rally at Baghmara to condemn the recent rape of four minor girls from South West Khasi Hills.

A statement issued by Khasi Hills unit of the Garo Students’ Union (GSU) and the South West Khasi Hills unit of A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) had stated that on June 7 the minor girls, aged between 13-14 were allegedly raped by 12 men.

Friday’s rally at Baghmara saw participation from various schools and members of organizations such as the Garo Students’ Union (GSU), A’chik Youth Welfare Organization (AYWO), Nokma Garo Community Organization (NGCO), and A’chik Peace Association (APA).

The rallyist condemned the heinous act and has demanded justice for the victims.

“We will continue our protest until justice is served,” spokesperson of AHAM said, while demanding arrest of the accused.
