Tura, March 9: Four drug peddlers have been nabbed by South West Garo Hills police in a late night operation outside Tura on Friday.
“Based on credible source information, an Anti Narcotic Operation was conducted last night at Balalgre under Damalgre Police Station jurisdiction and four suspects were nabbed with illegal substance,” informed police.
The four arrested have been identified as Chanchu M Marak of Balading, Tura, Santo Bhowmick alias kamlesh of Hawakhana, Tura, Raj Barman of Hawakhana, Tura and Topon Das of Singimari, Hallidayganj, West Garo Hills.
They apprehended with the narcotic substance SPSHEN+ – 150 capsules
(Tramadol Hydrochloride salt content – 7.5 grams).
The autorickshaw they were using and three mobile phones were seized from their possession.
The joint operation was led by Ravi K. Sangma, DySP(HQ), Ampati, ANTF
West Garo Hills, Tura and ANTF, South West Garo Hills, Ampati.
The accused persons were bringing the banned psychotropic substances from Mankachar, Assam with an intention to sell and distribute across the Garo Hills areas.
Police say the arrested persons are habitual offenders and had been arrested earlier in various cases in Garo Hills districts.
