Funds worth Rs 5.50 Crore sanctioned for CM youth scheme in 1 year

SHILLONG, FEB 27: The state government has sanctioned funds to the tune of Rs 5.50 Crore for the implementation of various projects targeting the youth of the state through the Chief Minister Youth Development Scheme during 2023-2024.

This was informed by the Minister in-charge Sports & Youth Affairs Shakliar Warjri while replying to a question in the Assembly on Tuesday.

He said that Rs 30 lakh is being allocated to the deputy commissioner of Shillong and Tura respectively while Rs 17 lakh each for the remaining ten districts.

Congress legislator from Mawhati Charles Marngar asked if the government has any intention to review the allocation of funds under the scheme as per constituency wise to which the minister said that allocation of funds is based on the number of organizations or clubs registered with the deputy commissioner and not constituency wise.

When VPP MLA from Nongkrem Ardent Basaiawmoit wanted to know if the scheme can be routed through the MLA, the minister said that the scheme is being routed through DC and directorate of sports and youth affairs.
