Tura, April 9: The decision of the central government to not set up a examination centre for the Common University Entrance Test in Garo Hills has angered Tura MP Agatha Sangma who has shot off a strong complaint letter to union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan demanding a relook into the issue.
The National Testing Centre has set up a centre for the common entrance test in Shillong region, but Garo Hills has missed out from getting a centre for thousands of students who are applying for undergraduate courses in different universities in the country.
“I am informed that in Meghalaya there is no centre alloted (out of three) in my Parliamentary Constituency, Tura, Meghalaya” complained Agatha in her letter.
Agatha has urged union minister Dharmendra Pradhan to direct the National Testing Centre to take steps to set up atleast one centre of the Common University Entrance Test for 2022-23 in Tura so that students across Garo Hills can avail the benefit of the examination without having to face immense difficulties by traveling all the way outside the region.
The CUET online examination for the coming acedemic year all over the country is scheduled for the first and second week of July.
