Tura, Sept 13: Garo Hills police on Monday fished out a murdered victim’s body from a local river in Betasing area of South West Garo Hills.
The body was found floating in the Dilni River by some villagers who quickly called up Betasing police outpost to alert them of the floating corpse.
“The sighting of a cadaver was in Dilni River bordering Rongsang A’bagre A’king. On arrival at the Place of Occurrence, the cadaver was removed from the water and subjected to inquest. During inquest, Police discovered that there were multiple stab marks on the body around the mid section, and also incised wounds on the throat,” informed police.

The body has been identified as that of Late Shahinur Sheikh (44 yrs) of village Dugripara under Ampati Police Station. The inquest of the cadaver indicates commission of culpable homicide amounting to murder and a case has been registered into the incident and investigation is on, informed Ampati police.
