Shillong, June 27: The Meghalaya government on Tuesday has modified the Office Memorandum (OM) issued in 1974 with regards to the reservation roster job vacancies reserved for Garo categories.
Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, government official spokesperson and cabinet minister, Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh said, “We also amended the modified version of the OM dated 1974”.
She added that, “the OM will be set aside as it is being observed that most of the vacancies reserved for Garo categories have been and are being filled by qualified candidates from the Garo category who are available from within the state”.
“We have deleted the OM which allows Garo living outside the state of Meghalaya being eligible in applying jobs within the state”, she added.
